Our Journey Toward Safe Water for All
- 2066 B.S. (2009 A.D.) – Initiated technical training and promotion of biosand filter technology in Nepal.
- 2071 B.S. (2014 A.D.) – Officially registered as Biosand Filter Entrepreneur Association Nepal (BIFEAN) at the District Administration Office, Chitwan.
- 2072–2075 B.S. – Expanded safe drinking water awareness programs and strengthened coordination with municipalities and local governments.
- 2076 B.S. – Strengthened quality monitoring and standardization of biosand filters across affiliated members.
- 2077 B.S. – Expanded provincial presence and formalized branch operations. Established Branch Offices: Koshi Province – Urlabari, Morang Lumbini Province – Gulariya, Bardiya
- 2080 B.S. – Strengthened water quality testing programs in coordination with local governments.
- 2081 B.S. – Reached over 184,000 distributed biosand filters, benefiting more than 822,000 families nationwide.
Ours Board Members
Biosand Filter Entrepreneur Association Nepal (BIFEAN) is a non-profit organization established in 2071 B.S. (2014 A.D.), with its work beginning in 2066 B.S., dedicated to ensuring safe drinking water for all communities in Nepal. Headquartered in Bharatpur, Chitwan, with branch offices in Urlabari (Koshi Province) and Gulariya, Bardiya (Lumbini Province), BIFEAN promotes biosand filter technology as an affordable and sustainable household water treatment solution. The organization conducts water quality testing programs in coordination with municipalities, implements safe drinking water awareness campaigns—especially in the Terai region—and maintains quality standards in filter production and distribution. In collaboration with partners such as ENPHO and local governments, BIFEAN has distributed over 184,000 biosand filters, benefiting more than 822,000 families, and continues working toward its mission of “Safe Water for All.”
